About Queens of D'Nile Studio

Queens of D'Nile is the only studio in Cabarrus County dedicated solely to the art of belly dance.
It is our belief that belly dance is for everyone - all shapes, sizes, colors, genders and walks of life.
It is our goal to maintain a positive, encouraging environment in which students can learn, grow, and, most importantly, have fun expressing themselves through dance.

FAQs

How much are classes? - Drop-in price is $12/class

How long are classes? - Each class is one hour long

What should I wear? - Wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in (tank top, t-shirt, yoga pants). We usually dance barefoot, in socks or dance shoes.

Anything else I should know? - Bring a bottle of water, relax and have fun!

Fusion Belly Dance

 

Generally, Fusion Belly Dance is defined  as Middle Eastern dance combined with elements of other dance forms such as hip hop, ballet, Indian dance, modern dance, jazz, pop, etc.

This class will combine belly dance movements and technique for all dance experience levels with dynamic combos and choreographies.

Beginner Belly Dance

Interested in belly dance but never danced a step? This beginner class is for you! Join Legan as she guides you through the foundational movements of this graceful, ancient art. Absolutely no dance experience required. Belly dance is accessible for all ages, sizes, and level of abilities.

Beginner Plus class for 10/17/20 is full. Register for next week!

This class is for those who have some belly dance experience and are looking to improve your skills before moving to the next level.
In each six-week session, dancers will work on holding posture, strengthening core muscles, learning fun combos and choreos, adding more complicated movements to their practice, and drilling the moves they've learned. And we will discuss  the history of belly dance, its cultures and countries of origin, and much more.


NEW SESSION STARTS SATURDAY, OCT. 17 AT 10 A.M.

$60 per session  or $12 per class

Please read before registering

  • Wear a mask into the studio and leave it on until it is time to warm up.

  • Put your mask back on immediately after cool down.

  • Stay six feet apart at all times.

  • Use hand sanitizer upon entering the studio.

  • We will do temperature checks.

  • If you think you are experiencing Covid symptoms, please stay home.

  • Registration will be capped at 7 people per class.

  • Registration is REQUIRED before each class, every week so we can ensure we aren't exceeding our capacity.

  • Registration will be available 6 days before each class. Acceptance into class is first come/first served. We will have a wait list in case a spot opens up.

  • If you are registered for a class but can't attend, please let us know so we can offer the space to another student.

Instructor Bios

Wendy K

Wendy currently teaches Beginner Belly Dance, and Choreography, and plans to offer a mixed-level class in the near future.

She discovered belly dance in 2007 and since then it has grown from a once-a-week hobby to a full-time obsession. She is on a mission to spread the joy and confidence belly dance imparts to other women (and men) who don't think they are dancers.


She has studied American Tribal Style since 2008 and has also trained in American Cabaret and Tribal Fusion. She has studied under instructors including Denise Bradford, Jeannie Murdock, and Kalima of Kalima Tribal.  She has also participated in workshops and intensives with The Rising Sun Tribe, Zoe Jakes, Mavi, Urban Gypsy, Annie of Ancient Moon, Megha Gavin, Jenny Lawrence, Mardi Love, Rachel Brice, Jennifer Nolan, Kaeshi Chai, Suhaila Salimpour, Wendy Allen, Kae Montgomery, Sandi Ball, Liz Malcolm, Carolena Nericchio, Naima Sultana, Angie Never, Lacey Sanchez, Deanna Padron, Mahsati Janan and many others.
She has also trained in sword performance under Anna Maria Cancelli, Mavi, and Amara Al Amir.


Wendy earned her American Tribal Style General Skills Certification in June 2012.


She is currently owner and director of Queens of D'Nile Studio.

Where do I enter the studio?

Although we have a Union St. address, students can enter from Market St., where there is plenty of parking. Look for the purple door beside Market Street Studios, 35 Market St.
